For the European market the second generation ASX is a rebadged Renault Captur, which was sold from March 2023. The second generation was revealed in September 2022 with gasoline, mild hybrid, hybrid and plug in hybrid powertrain options, built by Renault rather than Mitsubishi for Europe. The ASX is short for Active Sports Crossover. The ASX was positioned below the Outlander in Mitsubishi's crossover SUV line up.
