In 2022 the fourth generation Ranger was in its fourth year in North America as a mid size pickup, available only as a SuperCab or SuperCrew with the 2.3 liter turbocharged four and ten speed automatic, built at the Michigan Assembly Plant. It was the first Ranger with a mid size footprint in North America, while the fifth generation was by then on sale in other markets, and the Ranger competed with the Chevrolet Colorado.
