The first F-150 Lightning was built on 18 April 2022 and delivered on 26 May, after Ford had unveiled it in May 2021 and received 69,500 refundable deposit orders in four days. For 2022 it came in four trims, Pro, XLT, Lariat and Platinum, with a standard or an extended range battery. The Lightning was a battery electric full size pickup that Ford sold as part of its fourteenth generation F-Series. It had dual electric motors, four wheel drive and a crew cab body, and could power a home from its battery.
