The F48 X1 was in 2021 in its sixth year of the second generation, a front wheel drive based crossover. The third generation, the U11, was being prepared for its reveal in 2022, and the F48 continued in sDrive and xDrive forms, with the xDrive25e plug in hybrid and the long wheelbase F49 on sale in China. The generation ended after the 2022 launch of the U11, so this was the second to last year of the F48, which had been revealed in 2015.
