For the 2020 model year the TRD Off-Road trim arrived in North America, bringing the number of trim levels there to ten. The plug in hybrid RAV4 was unveiled at the Los Angeles show in December 2019 and went on sale in Japan on 8 June 2020, and Malaysia launched the car on 18 June. It was model year 2 of 7 in the Toyota RAV4 (fifth generation, XA50), 2019 to 2025, coming after the 2019 model year and before the 2021 model year.
