The 2020 Ram 1500 continued the fifth generation, with the payload increased to 2,300 pounds and maximum trailer towing capacity reaching 12,750 pounds when properly equipped, with a total weight reduction of about 225 pounds compared to the previous generation. The Ram HD version, which made its debut on January 14, 2019, was redesigned for the same model year as the fifth generation Ram Heavy Duty. Ram 1500 trucks are produced at Sterling Heights Assembly.
