Due to slow sales and Holden's interest in other vehicle segments, it was announced on 10 December 2019 that the ZB Commodore would be discontinued in early 2020, shortly before General Motors' decision to retire the Holden brand entirely. On 17 February 2020 General Motors announced that the Holden marque would be retired from sale in Australia and New Zealand by 2021. The ZB was the last Commodore.
