The first units of the second generation M4 were assembled in November 2020, with global deliveries starting in early 2021. At launch in 2020 the M4 Competition model was unveiled alongside the standard M4 model. The 2020 M4 was the G82 coupe, the second generation of the BMW M4, a high performance version of the 4 Series. The G82 followed the F82 as the second generation of the high performance 4 Series built by BMW M GmbH.
