Production of the Lancer in Brazil continued until 2019, after Mitsubishi ended production worldwide in August 2017, and the Grand Lancer built in Taiwan by China Motor Corporation continued. The Grand Lancer was designed by CMC with part of the design done by Pininfarina Shanghai, on the same platform as the existing model, and was the only Lancer remaining in the Mitsubishi range. Mitsubishi's main focus had moved to crossovers and SUVs.
