For the 2019 model year the fourth generation Ranger was introduced, going on sale in January 2019, after an eight year hiatus in which 2012 production was not marketed for retail sale. It was the first mid size Ranger and was developed from the Ranger T6 designed by Ford Australia, with design changes to its frame and bumpers, built at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne. At the 2017 Detroit show Ford had confirmed the Ranger and Bronco would return.
