The X7 has been available at BMW dealers since March 2019. It was built on the same BMW CLAR platform as the G05 X5, taller and wider and stretched to carry a third row of seats that is standard and spacious enough for adults, unlike the optional third row of the X5. In July 2019 a pickup truck concept based on the X7 was unveiled, though it was not intended for production. It was the first X7 model year and the start of its sales through dealers.
