The Eclipse Cross was available in Japan, Australia and North America from the beginning of 2018, and it was released in Japan on 1 March 2018. The 2018 to 2023 models all receive an overall Good crashworthiness rating under the original IIHS moderate overlap and side impact tests. The Eclipse Cross is not assembled in the United States, as Mitsubishi closed its Diamond-Star Motors plant in Normal, Illinois in February 2016 and sold the plant to Rivian in January 2017.
