In 2018 the Carol was in its fifth year as the seventh generation, a Mazda branded Suzuki Alto, manufactured by Suzuki for Mazda. The Carol name had been revived in 1989 for the re entry of Mazda into the kei car class with the Autozam brand, and the car was still a pure badging exercise a generation after the unique bodywork of the early years. The Carol is a rebadged model manufactured by Suzuki for Mazda. The Carol was replaced as Suzuki released a replacement for the Alto.
