In 2018 Ford began plans to discontinue the Fusion along with its other sedans in North America over the following years, as the company shifted toward pickups, crossover utility vehicles, SUVs and the Mustang muscle car. The Fusion Energi plug in hybrid was dropped after 2017, leaving the S, SE, Titanium and Platinum trims, and the Hybrid and Sport in the range. The Platinum and Sport trims, added for 2017, were part of the line up.
