The third generation LaCrosse debuted at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show as a 2017 model using the E2XX platform shared with the 2016 to 2020 Chevrolet Impala. In order to make room for an upcoming new product at the Kansas City facility, production of the LaCrosse was moved from Fairfax Assembly to Detroit Hamtramck Assembly. The 2017 LaCrosse was the third generation, shown at Los Angeles in 2015, built at Hamtramck and also sold in China.
