In February 2016 Mazda announced that production of all of its minivans would end within the year, and sales of the MPV, also called the Mazda8, ended in March 2016. The Biante carried on, an eight seater minivan in its ninth year, with the Skyactiv G 2.0 engine and the Skyactiv Drive automatic, until its end in February 2018. The car fits between the Premacy and MPV in Mazda's range. The Biante replaced the Bongo Friendee.
