In 2016 the second generation Fusion was in its fourth year as a mid size sedan sold in S, SE and Titanium trims with Hybrid and Energi plug in versions. Its design had been led by Ford of Europe and its CD4 platform was shared with the Mondeo, giving it a European inspired look, and the Sport model with the V6 engine would return for 2017. The line was one of Ford's last remaining mid size cars in North America.
