On April 1, 2015, Chevrolet unveiled a redesigned Malibu at the 2015 New York International Auto Show, and it went on sale in late 2015 as a 2016 model. It was offered in four trims, L, LS, LT and Premier, the last replacing the LTZ. It had a new 1.5 liter turbocharged engine as standard with a 2.0 liter turbocharged four as an option, no six cylinder, and the first teen driver feature in the industry. Chevrolet announced that more than 10 million Malibus had been sold worldwide since 1964.
