The fourth generation MX-5 was unveiled in 2014 while the NC was still on sale, and What Car? magazine named the MX-5 its Used Car of the Year in the Best Fun Car category for 2014. The third generation, introduced in 2005 and with the Power Retractable Hard Top, stayed in production until 2015. The roadster was built at Mazda's Hiroshima plant. The car kept a curb weight close to the 1,100 kilogram mark of earlier generations.
