European sales of the second generation Auris began in early 2013, and in parts of Asia it was sold from the second quarter. In August 2013 Toyota in Japan launched an advertising campaign for the Auris featuring Char Aznable from Mobile Suit Gundam, and its dashboard was used on the E170 Corolla saloon released later in 2013. It was model year 2 of 7 in the Toyota Auris (second generation, E180), 2012 to 2018, coming after the 2012 model year and before the 2014 model year.
