Beginning with the 2012 model year all V6 versions of the Chrysler 300 were equipped with the eight speed 845RE automatic transmission, a TorqueFlite licensed from ZF Friedrichshafen, in place of the earlier five speed. The 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 produced 292 horsepower, replacing the 2.7 and 3.5 liter engines of the first generation, and the 300S and the Executive Series gave the line a sporty and a luxurious variant.
