The 900,000th MX-5 was built in February 2011. The third generation NC was in its seventh year, offered as the soft top roadster and the retractable hard top, and still on the Car and Driver 10Best list. Mazda built it at Hiroshima, and the count reached one million five years later, which made it the best selling two seat convertible sports car in history. A longitudinal truss called the Powerplant Frame joins the engine to the differential.
