The second generation Pleo went on sale in Japan on 20 April 2010. Because of the investment in Subaru by Toyota, this generation was made by Daihatsu rather than by Subaru, and it was a rebadged Daihatsu Mira, which ended the days of a kei car designed and built by Subaru for the Japanese tall wagon segment. The name pleo is Latin meaning to fill or to fulfill. The Pleo is taller than conventional kei car hatchbacks, but shorter than the definitive microvan, the Suzuki Wagon R.
