The Fusion was in its eighth year in 2010, selling in the B segment as a five door mini MPV built at Cologne. It was longer, wider and taller than the Fiesta whose platform it shared, with a length of four metres for enhanced manoeuvrability and economical operation from its B class underpinnings. Ford described its name as referring to the combination of small hatchback, MPV and SUV design features that it offered.
