In 2010, for the 2011 model year, the E82 coupe and E88 convertible received a facelift, bringing them up to date while the hatchbacks continued with their earlier facelift of 2007. The E8x range remained in production in Regensburg and Leipzig, but the F20 was now in development as its successor, to be presented at the Frankfurt show in 2011. That left the hatchbacks and open and closed models in different stages of their life cycle.
