Local production of the second generation Pajeros in the Philippines ended in 2008. The fourth generation Pajero NS was in its second year, sold as the Pajero in most of the world and the Shogun in the United Kingdom, with the 3.2 liter turbo diesel and 3.8 liter V6, and built in Japan with the Super Select four wheel drive system, with the new NT series of 2009 yet to come. Over the 40 year run to 2021 more than 3.3 million Pajeros were sold.
