Mazda first released the 2008 Mazda Premacy in Japan, with other markets to follow. The Mazda5 of 2008 was in its fourth year, a compact minivan based on Ford's global C1 platform and sharing many parts with the Mazda3, assembled in Taiwan by Ford Lio Ho for the local market. The Mazda5 is marginally larger than the 1984 to 1989 Toyota Van. The middle row of seats recline and slide front to rear, and fold flat, and the rear row also folds flat.
