The Patriot won the 2008 4x4 of the Year in the United Kingdom. The Patriot was offered in three basic models, Sport, Latitude and Limited, with an optional four wheel drive system called Freedom Drive II, capable with a unique CVT transmission of a 19 to 1 gear reduction simulating a low range. Freedom Drive II was part of an equipment package for use on more difficult terrain, and Patriots with this package bear Jeep's Trail Rated badging.
