The Patriot debuted with the Jeep Compass in April 2006 at the New York Auto Show for the 2007 model year. In the United States the Patriot uses either the 2.0 liter or 2.4 liter World gasoline four, in front wheel drive or four wheel drive, and for Europe and Australia a 2.0 liter Volkswagen manufactured diesel engine was fitted. The Patriot won the 2007 Green 4x4 Award in the United Kingdom, and in Russia it was called Jeep Liberty because UAZ owns the Patriot name.
