The 2008 Compass was the second model year of the first generation, a compact crossover SUV based on the DaimlerChrysler and Mitsubishi GS platform, assembled at Belvidere, Illinois. The three basic models of Compass in the United States were Sport, Latitude and Limited, with the Sport serving as the base model. The Compass did not carry the Trail Rated badge for the 2007 to 2010 model years, and it targets first time Jeep buyers.
