The Caliber was also introduced in China in 2008 as Dodge's second modern vehicle offering in that market. The introduction of the Caliber marked the return of the Dodge brand to Australia since the early 1970s, and in Japan the Caliber joined the local line up alongside the Chrysler PT Cruiser. The 2008 Caliber SXT was marketed in Europe and equipped with a Volkswagen built 2.0 liter turbodiesel engine, and it was built at Belvidere Assembly in Illinois.
