The fourth generation Pajero debuted at the Paris Motor Show on 30 September 2006 with the series code NS. The Montero was discontinued in the United States market after the 2006 model year, ending in North America. The third generation was scheduled to be replaced by the autumn of 2006, and the Pajero would keep a body in monocoque form with independent suspension. It was sold as the Montero in Spain and Latin America and the Shogun in the United Kingdom.
