Sales of the Dion ended on 31 March 2006 because of poor sales, as it was merged into the Grandis, the existing three number plate minivan. About 65,000 were produced in all. The five number plate minivan segment disappeared for a time until the Delica D:3 in 2011. The Dion had been a compact MPV with seven seats built on the Mirage Dingo, with a facelift in 2002 and a turbo engine. The Dion came with the GDI engine in every model.
