The transmission of the Town Car underwent further internal revisions for 2006, becoming the 4R75E. The 2006 Town Car was in the penultimate year of Wixom production, since the Wixom Assembly Plant, home to all Lincolns since 1958 except a few models, was slated to close after 2007 production as part of the Way Forward restructuring, putting the Town Car's future at risk. It was marketed by the Lincoln division of Ford Motor Company as a full size luxury sedan.
