The second generation Galaxy was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 2006 and went on sale in May alongside the S-Max, which had a lower roofline and only child seats in the third row. It was larger than before, a four pillar design with elements of the Kinetic Design language. The Galaxy was a seven seat people carrier that Ford built for the European market, sharing its platform with the Mondeo in its later forms. It was slotted between the Tourneo Connect and the Tourneo Custom in the Ford range, and was the first Ford brand people carrier made outside North America.
