In 2005 all models received a minor facelift. The 2005 and 2006 Renegade and the 2005 Rocky Mountain Edition Liberties received an exclusive flat hood and taller grille. In 2005 DaimlerChrysler began offering a diesel engine to the North American market, the 2.8 liter VM Motori common rail turbodiesel or CRD, available only for the 2005 and 2006 model years in Sport and Limited trims with an automatic transmission.
