The Chrysler 300 went on sale for the 2005 model year, after the concept shown at the 2003 New York auto show and the start of production in January 2004. It was styled by Ralph Gilles as an update of the 1955 C-300, with a large grille and a long hood, and was built on the rear drive LX platform, with a 190 horsepower 2.7 liter V6 in the base car, a 250 horsepower 3.5 liter in the Touring and a 5.7 liter Hemi in the 300C. The 300C was the 2005 Motor Trend Car of the Year, and all 300C Touring models and European sedans were assembled by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria, from June 2005.
