The first generation Fortuner was unveiled in December 2004 at the Thailand International Motor Expo, built on the Hilux platform as part of the IMV project. The Fortuner was launched in Thailand in November 2004 with two grade levels, the entry level G and the top spec V. This was the first model year of the Toyota Fortuner (first generation, AN50 and AN60), 2004 to 2014, the first generation covered for the Toyota Fortuner; the 2005 model year follows it.
