A fleet of twelve long-wheelbase 110 Td5 Land Rovers was built for the German federal government in 2004, comprising vans, high-capacity pick-ups and 4x4s, finished in metallic grey with white roofs and with a minimal electrical specification. Four had fitted-for-radio electrics for the VHF radios used by German police and authorities. The government did not renew the contract after 2006 and went to Mercedes instead. The standard Defender continued with the Td5 diesel.
