For the 2003 model year Mercury revived the Marauder nameplate, appealing to the niche last filled by the 1994 through 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS. Production Marauders used a 302 horsepower 4.6 L DOHC V8, an evolution of the Lincoln Mark VIII engine, with a 4 speed 4R70W automatic, and heavier duty brake and suspension components from the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. Most were sold in black. Ford de contented it midway through the model year.
