The trucks were refreshed in 2002 for the 2003 model year, bringing slight design changes and an upgrade to the audio and heating and ventilation controls. The 2003 Silverado was the same GMT800 truck introduced for 1999, and it shared its mechanicals with the identically related GMC Sierra. In Mexico the high trim level versions of the Silverado used the Chevrolet Cheyenne name, starting with the LT trim.
