In 2002 the Corsa chassis spawned a mini MPV called the Opel Meriva, development of which began under Opel in Rüsselsheim. In Japan, where the car was sold through the Yanase dealership chain as the Opel Vita, it was discontinued in April 2004 due to sluggish sales. The Argentinian version of the Corsa C was manufactured in General Motors' Alvear plant in Santa Fe Province. The Corsa C was sold in Japan as the Opel Vita.
