2002 Mazda 323

Automobiles

In 2002 most Protege models, including the Protege5, received the 2.0 liter engine, although the SE in Canada kept the 1.6 liter. The ninth generation Familia was in its fifth year and the Mazda6 that replaced the Capella had arrived, while the Mazda3 that would replace the Familia was being prepared. In 2003 Mazdaspeed introduced the Mazdaspeed Protege, an update to the Protege MP3. Mazda built the Familia at its Hiroshima plant and also assembled it from knock down kits in several countries.
