The Mustang was sold in Australia in 2001 and 2002 to compete with the Holden Monaro. Because it had never been designed for right hand drive, Ford Australia hired Tickford Vehicle Engineering to convert 250 cars a year, at a development cost of 4 million Australian dollars. Sales missed expectations, partly because of a very high price, and just 377 were sold there in total. Elsewhere the New Edge Mustang carried on with few changes.
