The Traviq, the first minivan of Subaru, went on sale in August 2001, an OEM supply of the Opel Zafira that General Motors made at its plant in Thailand and imported into Japan through GM Japan, at a time when Fuji Heavy Industries had a capital tie with GM. Its steering was on the right only, with a 2,198 cc engine larger than that of the Zafira imported to Japan, and it was a seven seater. The Traviq was the first minivan of Subaru, which had sold the Domingo cabover van from 1983.
