A two door version of the Platz exclusive to North America followed for the 2000 model year, badged the Echo, and in the United States the Echo sold almost 50,000 units in its first year. In China the Platz was marketed as the Xiali 2000 from December 2000. It was model year 2 of 5 in the Toyota Platz (single generation, XP10), 1999 to 2005, coming after the 1999 model year and before the 2001 model year.
