Production of the Libero wagon ended in November 2000 with the start of sales of the Lancer Cedia Wagon, later the Lancer Wagon, and only the commercial Libero Cargo van was kept in production. The Libero of 2000 was in its ninth year, and had been a wagon that was as unusual as a Japanese car as it was for having rear fog lamps as standard. The Libero was developed on the base of the fourth generation Lancer and Mirage as the successor of the Mirage Wagon and the Lancer Wagon.
