The Kia Avella was discontinued in 1999, although production for some export markets carried on. The second generation Festiva was still sold in Australia with its 3 speed automatic, and its distinctive American style side marker cut outs, but the end of Kia's tie with Ford was close. The Festiva was a small Mazda designed hatchback that Ford sold in several markets, some of them under other names. Kia in South Korea built most of the cars sold under the Festiva and Aspire names, and sold the same design as the Pride and the Avella.
