By 1998 Kia Avella sales in South Korea had fallen to only 27,850, with the car meant mainly for export under Ford badges. The Festiva continued in Australia in 1998 as the Aspire had left the American range, powered by a 1.3 litre or the 1.5 litre Mazda engine. The Festiva was a small Mazda designed hatchback that Ford sold in several markets, some of them under other names. Kia in South Korea built most of the cars sold under the Festiva and Aspire names, and sold the same design as the Pride and the Avella.
