The Ford version of the luxury Bantam of 1999 was badged the Explorer, while the Mazda version was badged the Drifter. Both were trims of the second generation coupe utility built at Silverton in Pretoria, and they were on sale until the third generation Bantam of 2002. It was the small half ton pickup known there as a bakkie, sold beside the Mazda Rustler. The Bantam was a coupe utility pickup that Ford produced in South Africa for the South African market.
